The coming of a new age brings the coming of a new perspective. Technology has advanced beyond what we perceive and has seeped its way into our reality. AR or Augmented Reality. Its coming is a breakthrough for both science and technology, offering a portal between the real and the artificial. It involves technology that layers computer-generated enhancements atop an existing reality in order to make it more meaningful through the ability to interact with it. AR is developed into apps and used on mobile devices to blend digital components into the real world in such a way that they enhance one another, but can also be told apart easily.

But, is it possible that it has an added danger? Yes, you heard me right, danger. Ever come across the game Pokémon GO? It uses AR to bring the game alive and interactive for users. However, AR games by nature direct people to locations around their vicinity as part of the experience which can lead to risks as the player may face obstacles and there reportedly have been deaths and injuries related to the AR game.

The makers of the Pokémon Go app are well aware that the app can distract and cause severe injury. Thus, every time a user launches the Pokémon Go Application it will display a warning that players must remain aware of their surroundings.

But every grey cloud has a silver lining. There is no denying in saying AR has brought people together and socialize and interact with like-minded people through AR games, apps and other initiatives. It can also make its way into classroom learning and student curriculum. Besides, there is always a financial benefit when businesses use AR as a marketing strategy.

AR is the way forward for a scientifically advanced world.

The future is here.
